About Heady Creations
Heady Creations is a one-woman operated business located in Fairfield, Maine. My name is Mckenzie, I am the face and hands behind Heady Creations. I am 20 years old, I was raised in Central Maine and am very inspired by the nature and scenery, and community Ive grown up around.
I started working with epoxy resin in 2020, but I have always had a passion for creating new and unique things. Ive always had an appreciation for art and especially handmade items. I fell in love with the variety of different mediums in the art world when I took multiple high school art classes, this was always driving me to try new things.
In 2020 during covid-19 I took advantage of all the free time I had available to create new artwork. I started having so many pieces I didn't know what to do with, so I started selling them to family and friends. It was soon recommended to create an online shop, and selling to a bigger audience became more appealing. This ignited an euntrepenorial spark inside of me that I wasn't aware I had before. The amount of support I gained very quickly was overwhelming, however very exciting.
Heady Creations is a brand that strives to create stunning one of a kind pieces that also preserves natural elements to create meaningful, functional art. All HC products are created with mixed mediums, primarily epoxy resin is used. All flowers, seashells, butterflies and other insects, stones, and any other earth elements are real/genuine and ethically sourced. All flowers are hand-picked, pressed, and dried naturally. I find great passion in preserving beautiful, natural, elements while creating function and usable items. Epoxy resin is 2-part liquid that solidifies after 24 hrs when mixed together. It can be used to incase and preserve all the the elements I use and collect, meaning they are made to last. Some of my work includes homeware and decor, but also prioritizes function items such as jewelry, phone cases, key chains and other accessories, stash jars, kitchenware such as spoons and charcuterie boards, trays, dishes and so much more!
You can find HC products on the HeadyCreations website, at Old Soul Collective (22 Silver St. Waterville, ME), and also at any of the fairs and events that I attend monthly during the spring and summer. Find a list of these dates and events on the "Shop in Person" tab in my main menu at the top of my home page.
Some Facts and Quick Info about Epoxy Resin:
-Resin is food safe once it is fulling cured and can be eaten off from.
-Resin is heat resistant but not flame resistant and should never have direct flame applied to it.
-Resin can become temporarily soft/flexible if it reaches too high of a temperature. Once it is cooled down, it will mold back to its original shape and re-harden.
-Resin is non-toxic after its fully cured (hardened), this means it is perfectly safe to use to roll or stash your flower on/in.
-Resin is waterproof and cannot be smudged, however it can be scratched on the surface. To clean your resin pieces, avoid scrubbing them; instead wipe with a soft and damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
Mckenzie is currently studying for her business degree here in Maine in hopes to later on open the doors to her own storefront one day. Not only is the goal to have a physical storefront, but also create a public and creative space where the community can come to learn new art skills and create unique, customized pieces of their own!
